The Ring That Binds Us…

When we got married few years ago, we half jokingly considered Tokien’s The Ring Verse to be read as we put the rings on our fingers. I think the only reason why we did not do it is because we were not sure how my family would take the idea. I kind of wished we did though…

Because little that we know that years from that day, we actually bound by The Ring.

Of course not the real ring with the dark power to rule them all. I am talking about the game “Lord of The Rings Online”.

It started last year when we got hooked on steam games. And since I am unemployed, I thought it was a little bit frivolous to spend on games when I don’t earn the money. So I decided to try a lot of free games. This game is free to play game.

I was so excited when I found this game, as I like LOTR. I mean, I won’t call myself the biggest fan ever live in the non-middle earth universe, but I do like it. And like so many people who likes LOTR, of course I have this mini fantasy that I could one day live in Middle Earth. With this game, at the very least, I could make some of the mini fantasy come true.

I lived as a hobbit in Middle earth. What more do I want?

Grumpy was a bit doubtful when I told him that this is a f2p game, because a lot of f2p games would force the player to one day hit the massive wall and have to pay to get through that wall. I don’t think that it is the case with this LOTR online game. I have been playing for a couple of months now and I haven’t spent a dime.

So it was a little past midnight when I was running around Bree with mu little hobbit when Grumpy woke up and saw what I was playing. He thought it was probably not a bad idea at all to give it a try, and probably play the game together.

It was a bit frustrating to start with. I think Grumpy took this game too seriously -_-” But finally he could enjoy playing it without looking as if he was going to throw his laptop out of the window.

We spent New Year killing Orcs in Middle Earth,

Nuff said.

Happy-ish New Year?

Oh my goodness….

How long has it been since we updated this blog? Let me start with cleaning up the cobwebs and wipe this surface over here so I can sit down and tell you all what has happened to us the past couple of months. Assuming any of you want to know what’s going on to us…

First of all… we just came back from this journey across the country to visit the in-laws. It was definitely a dedication which was paid off when I had that huge spoonful of traditional British Sherry Trifle — apparently from the family recipe handed down to Grumpy’s stepmum from her grandmother.

I wish Grumpy had as much fun as I did, but I know he did not. He has not been well for awhile, and we still are not sure why. I think one of the the reasons was the weather. We had one of the worst, coldest, wettest winter for the past couple of years. At least since I came to this country…

To be honest, last year was probably not the best year for us. Our highlights of the year was probably the most wonderful trip to Hungary. And, of course we are planning for another visit, but probably not in foreseeable future.

And suddenly new year came.

Most of the time I embrace new year with optimism and hope, and all the things that are encouraging. But somehow, it is so difficult to do that… I hope when the sun come out in the end of this winter, Grumpy will be on board with me with this optimism thing.

On that optimistic note… I wish you all a very happy new year. I don’t care if it’s 6 days too late, because… better late than never.

Until next time,

xx
