When we got married few years ago, we half jokingly considered Tokien’s The Ring Verse to be read as we put the rings on our fingers. I think the only reason why we did not do it is because we were not sure how my family would take the idea. I kind of wished we did though…
Because little that we know that years from that day, we actually bound by The Ring.
Of course not the real ring with the dark power to rule them all. I am talking about the game “Lord of The Rings Online”.
It started last year when we got hooked on steam games. And since I am unemployed, I thought it was a little bit frivolous to spend on games when I don’t earn the money. So I decided to try a lot of free games. This game is free to play game.
I was so excited when I found this game, as I like LOTR. I mean, I won’t call myself the biggest fan ever live in the non-middle earth universe, but I do like it. And like so many people who likes LOTR, of course I have this mini fantasy that I could one day live in Middle Earth. With this game, at the very least, I could make some of the mini fantasy come true.
I lived as a hobbit in Middle earth. What more do I want?
Grumpy was a bit doubtful when I told him that this is a f2p game, because a lot of f2p games would force the player to one day hit the massive wall and have to pay to get through that wall. I don’t think that it is the case with this LOTR online game. I have been playing for a couple of months now and I haven’t spent a dime.
So it was a little past midnight when I was running around Bree with mu little hobbit when Grumpy woke up and saw what I was playing. He thought it was probably not a bad idea at all to give it a try, and probably play the game together.
It was a bit frustrating to start with. I think Grumpy took this game too seriously -_-” But finally he could enjoy playing it without looking as if he was going to throw his laptop out of the window.
We spent New Year killing Orcs in Middle Earth,
